Provincial Government Funding for the SCC
Core funding for the Saskatchewan Craft Council, for many years, has been provided by SaskCulture with funds from Saskatchewan Lotteries. This year, this funding amounts to $221,000, and makes possible the SCC’s non-commercial activities such as the operation of the SCC Gallery, Dimensions, and educational activity. In addition, the SCC has received another $33,000 from the Saskatchewan Cultural Industries development Fund (The SCIDF). This money was provided by taxpayers through the provincial government, and used for marketing and promotional activities. For example, last year, this money was used to do additional advertising for Wintergreen and the Saskatchewan Handcraft Festival, and to contribute to the promotion of Saskatchewan Craft at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show. Without this public support, the SCC would be a very different organization. See Full Report
