01. Next Issue of E-News September 25
Due to an upcoming Caledonian adventure for our web designer, the next issue of the SCC E-News will be sent on Friday, September 25.

02. Attention Wintergreen Marketers
We are gearing up to write this year’s Wintergreen tabloid. For the past two years, the focus has been “new” and “different”. The editorial content has centered around people new to Wintergreen. Things change this year.

To meet the challenge of “Our Best to You,” being held on the same weekend, we are stressing quality. Part of the content of the tabloid (and perhaps some other advertising) will consist of short profiles of marketers who have:

  • Won awards recently
  • Shown in prestigious galleries
  • Sold in different venues that would be seen as prestigious.

Could you let us know by e-mailing scc.director@sasktel.net.

In addition... If you have work in the hands of someone famous, please let us know. We’d love to promote the fact that your work was chosen to give to the Queen on her last visit, or was bought by Robert Redford. Pictures of them with the piece would be very welcomed.

SCC GALLERY EXHIBITIONS
01. Current Exhibition
02. Upcoming Exhibition

01. CURRENT EXHIBITION:

Reflection –Collaborative ceramics featuring tile murals by Wendy Parsons & Zach Dietrich.
August 28 – October 4, 2009.

Reflection on the art of crafting a life together

Over thirty years ago Wendy Parsons and Zach Dietrich settled into making pottery in an old church converted into a studio on the outskirts of Moose Jaw. The 70’s was a time of social change and their lives embodied moving 'back-to-the-land,' making a small footprint on the earth, resisting blatant materialism, spending time in nature, and making pots. Zach and Wendy collaborate on many of their production pieces; however, they have distinct individual work. Zach makes large-scale, well-thrown pieces that seem effortless due to many years of practice. Wendy's work is primarily figurative featuring strong, individual characters and her uncanny ability with caricatures. Heather Smith, Curator for the Moose Jaw Museum & Art Gallery, says “Wendy and Zach both seem very rooted in this place - the clay comes from here, the colour is right for the prairies, the content is often nature-inspired, and their whole way of working is collaborative and cooperative. This energy they have to find and incorporate new ideas, as well as to make loads of work, is an exciting mix. I count myself lucky to have artists working at such a high level of technical achievement with their medium, in a constant state of innovation - yet settled and even in their method of making a living.”
