Alison Philips

Alison Philips began her work about 35 years ago. She has taken various weaving classes in Canada and the USA, and first learned to weave when she completed training in England.

Alison’s accomplishments include receiving the Award for Excellence in Textiles at Dimensions Growth 2008. Dimensions is the biennial, open, juried, touring exhibition of the Saskatchewan Craft Council. She has also received the Complex Weavers Award from the Hand Weavers Spinners Dyers of Alberta Conference in Lethbridge Alberta.

She is a member of the Saskatchewan Craft Council, Saskatoon Spinners and Weavers, Saskatchewan Weavers and Spinners Guild, and is the provincial representative for Saskatchewan at the Canadian Weavers Guild.

She works mostly with finer threads, and her work is considered to be a modern interpretation of more traditional patterns.
