Photography is my way, as a visual artist, to share a story, show a feeling, or evoke an emotion through the image.

I like to be innovative through my vision, creativity, and style of photography. My vision is to convey a story by capturing the essence of the subject. I utilize my creativity by using diverse photography techniques. My style balances negative space with bright, clear, and bold images.

I am intrigued by growth and decay finding beauty in life and all its forms. Change and development is an influential part of my art, whether it is from life experience or my surroundings.

Catherine L. Ritchie owns and operates CLP Photographic, a professional photography service of vision creativity and style. Catherine has lived and photographed in Saskatoon, Edmonton, and Winnipeg. Learning photography from 1995 to 2003 through accomplished teachers of art, graphic art, and photography, she was granted honours in her class, in the Photography – Enhanced course at Red River College. Her education of photography was then learned through studies of literature, working for a Canadian photography retailer, and working with professional photographers in Winnipeg. Catherine became a juried professional member of the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC) in 2006, and began her own photography business, Canadian Life Photographic.

In late 2007, Catherine returned to Saskatoon to continue learning photography and business practices. She began a photography business with the assistance of the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF), and under another business name, CLP Photographic in 2009. Photography began to open new possibilities for Catherine. In 2011, Catherine joined the Saskatchewan Craft Council and was juried as a professional artist member in photography, as well as gaining other memberships extending to the Hasselblad owners club, the Saskatchewan Network for Art Collecting, and the Canadian Culinary Federation Saskatoon branch (CCFCC Saskatoon) as an associate member.

Catherine’s primary goal of CLP Photographic is to invest time and creativity in the photographic process to transform ideas and concepts into art. CLP Photographic works on location in Saskatoon, indoors and outdoors, and is available for portraits, copy work, events, and commercial photography. Catherine is a skilled visual artist who provides services using both film and digital media, as well as computer-based custom editing, and also producing fine art for sale or custom art on commission.
