My work has its roots in the experience of childhood and nature. I am fascinated by children’s sense of curiosity and wonder. How they perceive the world around them and interact with it.
Nature in all her vibrancy tantalizes me and draws me in to explore in greater detail. As a child would, I like to play with nature in my wall hangings.
I love color and texture. To achieve these I use primarily wool, silk, and other natural fibers. I occasionally use synthetic fibers for accents. I work on linen backing to produce vibrant wall hangings. I use yarn, often home spun and hand-dyed, as well as fabric, both up-cycled and new, and often hand-dyed. All this comes together to create vibrant tactile pieces of art.
I have been interested in textiles ever since I was a young child. I came to rug hooking in 1985 as a young mother. Over the years, my style has evolved to the organic free flowing style I enjoy today.
