Ron Cooley
I am a lifelong photographic enthusiast, balancing a full-time career with the art and craft of photography. My work includes traditional wildlife and landscape photography, often with an element of abstraction. My favourite images highlight the glorious accidents of pattern, colour, and texture found in our urban and natural environments. I prepare digital inkjet prints using archival materials for brilliance and longevity.
What is your inspiration?
My favourite pictures are semi-abstract compositions that highlight and preserve the glorious accidents of pattern, colour, and texture found in our urban and natural environments.
What would you like clients to know?
All my 2024 prints will be one-of-a-kind (numbered 1/1). No additional prints of these images will be offered for sale (though Artist’s Proofs may be made for exhibition).
How would you describe what craft is?
Though the distinction between craft and fine art is hotly debated, for me, craft is distinguished by its reverence for materials, tools, and techniques. A fine artist might sometimes sacrifice technique for the sake of expression; a dedicated craftsperson seldom would. Our world is filled with poorly made objects. Craft celebrates the well-made object.
