Diane Larouche Ellard
Diane Larouche Ellard is a painter and encaustic/mixed media artist living in Biggar, Saskatchewan. Larouche Ellard exhibits her work throughout the province and is represented by The Gallery at Mattick’s Farm in Victoria, and Grasslands Gallery Online.
Where did you learn your craft?
I received a BFA in painting and drawing from the University of Saskatchewan. I participated in a mentorship with Bobbi Clackson-Walker to learn how to work with encaustic.
What is your inspiration?
The prairies, especially prairie skies. Landscape, light, colour and line. The process of making and discovering happy accidents that turn into new techniques.
How would you describe what craft is?
Craft is important to me, and the community at large because it adds beauty to our everyday lives. Art/craft makes us human.
