The Saskatchewan Craft Council (SCC) is seeking new members to join the Board of Directors. We’re looking for passionate community members who believe in supporting craft and visual art in Saskatchewan. Committed to preserving both traditional and experimental craft and visual art, the SCC — an industry association with majority funding by the province through Creative Saskatchewan — continues to support artists through mentorship, workshops, and exhibitions, ensuring Saskatchewan’s craft and visual arts sector thrives.

The SCC’s governance authority originates from its constitution and bylaws. The duly elected Board of Directors sets policy and oversees the work of the Executive Director, its sole employee, to implement the policy. The Executive Director is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day work of the organization, with the assistance of paid staff and/or service volunteers. Through policy and direction to the Executive Director, the Board defines the important parameters within which the organization carries out its work and sets the strategic direction.

Time Requirement

The Board may meet when necessary, and typically holds a 1.5 hour meeting, virtually on a weeknight, every 2 months. Directors are further asked to sit with at least 1 of the Board’s committees, which meet on an as-needed basis. These include:

  • Finance and Audit
  • Membership (which includes Nominations)
  • Governance
  • Executive (comprised of the Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary)

Eligibility

To be eligible for a position, you must be a member in good standing with the SCC at the time members vote on the slate of directors at the coming Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 7 pm CST.
