Barbara Schmidt

Barbara Schmidt is a fiber artist creating wearable art & sculpture using wet felting, needle felting and botanical printing techniques. Living in rural Saskatchewan she began raising angora goats and harvesting the beautiful mohair they produced. This revived an interest in knitting and crochet, and a love of working with natural fibre. Additionally, she started to dye the fibre and experimented with creating natural dyes and botanically printing using plants nearby. When she was introduced to felting, she was drawn to the tactile nature of this medium. Barbara enjoys using wool combined with various fibres and yarns to create interesting lines and textures in her work.
