Brianne Hager

she/her

Brianne Hager is a mixed-media artist who uses watercolour, acrylic, pastel, and clay on cradled wood panels to create textured mixed media nature scenes. She has recently expanded her practice into pottery.

Inspired by magic, nature, the moon, and the night sky, Brianne creates functional witchy-themed pottery, including cauldrons, cups, bowls, lanterns, and pendulums intended for everyday use, altar spaces, divination, and ritual. Working with stoneware clay, she focuses mainly on wheel throwing, using carving, sculpting, and layered glazes to create pottery that brings a little more magic to everyday spaces.

Brianne has visual aphantasia, the inability to form mental images. Her imagination is tactile rather than visual, so while she cannot picture an animal in her mind, she can recall the feel of fur. This has led to a fascination with texture and a shift from mixed-media wall art meant to be observed to pottery that can be held, touched, and used.

Her mixed media work has been displayed in Saskatoon, Lloydminster, and at the Chapel Gallery in North Battleford.
