Lynn Guina
Lynn Guina is a Saskatoon fibre artist who has explored many mediums. She now works primarily with merino wool, silks (hand painted, hand dyed, and thrift store finds), any upcycled materials that can be felted. Her most recent works include heavy corrugated lattice cardboard and strips of used hospital masks.
She finds the mind boggling number of complex ways with which one can use this medium to be fascinating. The ability to blend colours, create texture, and build 3D forms is very exhilarating. Layering in fabrics, plant fibres, and unusual recycled materials opens up a whole other way to work with felt. Her favourite parts of using this medium are conceptualizing the design, doing all the mathematical calculations required to determine start and end size, problem solving along the way, and the final shaping of a full piece. She adds complexity to her pieces through colour, surface design, and more recently, 3D applications. She loves exploring new ways to add texture to her work. Her pieces are one of a kind, rich in texture with complex construction, and crafted with a high level of skill.
For the past 13 years she has been working primarily with wet felting producing one-of-a-kind wearables. Her current works explore the 3D form. Lynn is a currently a guest artist at Dervilia Art and Design.
