Rebecca La Marre

she/her

Rebecca La Marre is an artist that began learning about clay from her grandmother. She makes evocative, experimental, and functional ceramics. Sometimes she uses the objects she makes in performances and exhibitions, which have been shown in cities around the world and here on the prairies.

Rebecca’s ceramics are frequently made with clay and organic materials sourced from her environment; purple sand from Candle Lake, clay from the South Saskatchewan River bank, flowers from her garden. She fires using alternative techniques and twice a year in a Japanese-style anagama kiln with the Wolverine Woodfire Collective.
