Wesley Pound

Wesley Arnott Pound passed away Saturday July 30, 2005 after a short battle with cancer. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Arleen (Hand), daughter Charlene, son Braden (Renee), grandchildren Sam and Lauren, sister Dorothy (Doug) Jeffery, nieces, Debbie (Scott) Cockbill, Dianna (Ron) Harms and Danine (Dave) Webber, nephew Donald (Shelly) and their children. Wes was born in Kinghorn Fife, Scotland in 1933 and moved to Saskatoon when he was three months old. He attended Buena Vista Elementary School and Nutana Collegiate. He was employed by Robin Hood Flour Mills for 15 years and then attended the University of Saskatchewan receiving his degree from the College of Agriculture, Dairy and Food Science in 1973. The same year he began his career with the Federal Government, Health Canada, Health Protection Branch, later becoming a Food and Drug District Officer. He was actively involved with the Hub City Kennel and Obedience Club for several years and was a long-time member of the Saskatchewan Wood Workers Guild. Wes was the driving force behind the Emma Lake Collaboration and coordinator for the Artisan Craft Market for the Hub City Turners. Special thank you to the doctors and nurses at St. Paul’s Hospital, and to Addie Loomes and the other Palliative Home Care staff members. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel of the Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338 4th Ave. N., conducted by The Reverend Marjorie Keyser. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wes Pound Bursary Fund for Education c/o M. Hosaluk, RR#2, Saskatoon, SK.
