Not only did Trump destroy the Kennedy Centre’s programming by firing the board, staff and inserting himself into the role of board chair, his hatred of all things EDI has forced the Art Museum of the Americas to cancel two exhibitions, one involving Saskatchewan’s Zachari Logan.
From Zachari’s Instagram: “Only one month in and the Trump administration has personally left a mark. My inclusion in ‘Nature’s Wild’, a queer, BIPOC exhibition created by the wonderful artist-curator Andil Gosine @natureswildthebook years in the making, cancelled one month before it was set to open at the Museum of the Americas in DC.”
The second exhibition to be cancelled is a show on Artists of African Descent. The exhibition at the Art Museum of the Americas in Washington, DC, would have featured works by Afro-Latino, Caribbean, and African American artists.
This is monumental and frightening. It is a harbinger of a new world order that we must fight against.
