What do you enjoy about working at the SCC?
I enjoy working with artists and the art community. I enjoy engaging and learning more about the artist’s practice through craft and the community that SCC has built and continues to build for the arts community in Saskatchewan.
What have you learned about our organization that you’d like to share with other artists?
The one thing that stands out for me are the people who work for the SCC. The people here are driven, dedicated, and hardworking!
What kind of artwork do you create?
I’m a printmaker and an artist who likes to play with surface design and continual pattern. My business is called Walden Sweet.
What’s your current favourite piece in the Boutique? Why?
My current favourite piece in the boutique are Mel Bolen’s pottery. I love and appreciate clay work. I love the way in which Mel’s pieces are shaped and how they capture the light.
What inspires you?
Doing new activities and learning inspire me! The SCC has contributed to my love for learning and my love for Saskatchewan artists. SCC inspires me to take part in the art community in Saskatoon and Saskatchewan.
What’s your favourite thing about craft?
My favourite thing about craft is that it can be functional or not.
What’s a craft piece you experience every day?
The craft piece that inspires me everyday is my Terri Ekvall mug. I use this mug every morning bright and early for my morning coffee.
What do you like to do for fun, when you’re not working or making art?
I love going to concerts and cultural events around town. I also love to ride my bike, listening to music, and going to the swimming pool.
