Elaine Gohlke

Elaine Gohlke creates jewellery that is inspired by her lifelong fascination with the vivid colours and textures of glass, often merging metal with the lampwork glass that she melts, molds, and blows into beads.

Stained glass and mosaic classes 25 years ago slowly transitioned into lampwork glass classes and, of course, the inevitable jewellery classes to incorporate the plentiful lampwork glass beads. Classes in blown lampwork beads not only led to a beautiful new look for wearable art, but unlocked another world of experimentation that morphed into blowing small Christmas ornaments of various sizes and shapes, some with openings that incorporate small lampwork figures.

Elaine’s education was not limited to glass. Through attending jewellery classes at the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre in Regina, she has learned numerous other jewellery techniques using silver, fine silver, copper, titanium, and niobium. Recently she has been integrating colour with metal via alcohol ink on silver, copper, and brass.

Elaine is a member of the Jewellery Artists Guild of Regina and the International Society of Glass Beadmakers. You can find her jewellery at Art Gallery of Regina member shows, local shows organized by the Jewellery Artists Guild of Regina, and shows that the Guild participates in such as the Cathedral Village Street Fair, Bazaart, Fort Qu’Appelle’s Midsummer Arts Festival, and WinterGreen Fine Craft Market.
