Matina Morton

Matina Morton is a ceramic artist based in Grasswood, Saskatchewan, whose work reflects her deep appreciation for local landscapes and community. Raised in Saskatoon she developed a passion for pottery in high school, then explored many other crafts before returning to her love of clay.
A strong believer in all things local, Matina surrounds herself with handmade objects and handcrafted furniture, emphasizing the importance of supporting local artisans. She is deeply inspired by the quality and beauty of Saskatchewan art which celebrates the province’s rich cultural heritage. Her pottery draws from her love of gardening, travel, and cooking with pieces designed to enhance the dining experience, balancing elegance and rustic charm. Her love of salt fired pottery embraces the unique qualities of this firing method to capture colours that reflect the vibrant prairie landscape.
As a mother of a large blended family Matina enjoys traveling to connect with her children and grandchildren. At home when she isn’t in her studio she out in her yard or finding inspiration during walks with her dogs at Chief Whitecap Park.
