Debbie McCrea

Debbie McCrea lives on a ranch southwest of Mankota, Saskatchewan.
Debbie works in pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, watercolors, acrylics, mosaics, carving, and paper mâché sculptures. She’s done several group and solo shows over the years, along with tradeshows. She’s completed commission pieces in pencil, watercolor and paper mâché over the years.
When she was in high school, she took a correspondence course from Art Instruction School from Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has participated in many workshops from various artists; and in turn has given a few classes in her community.
In 2021, she was chosen for the Saskatchewan Carfac Mentorship Program with Clint Neufeld as her mentor. That year she also received a grant from Sask Arts for her work with the paper mâché sculptures. Also, Sask Arts submitted Debbie’s name to Max TV Local on Demand to record a video showcasing Debbie and her work. You can watch this video on YouTube.
She is a member of the Swift Current Art Gallery. This past year, when displaying three of her sculptures at the member’s show and sale at the Swift Current Gallery, the gallery purchased one of the sculptures that Debbie had entered, for the for their permanent collection.
She has also participates in the Artist Retreat in Assiniboia and the Southwest Open at the West Wing Gallery in Swift Current.
She can be found most Saturdays throughout the summer at the Wild West Market Square in Mankota. Some of her work can also be found at Artistic Creations in Gravelbourg.
