I was born and raised in Ontario. I moved to Alberta after completing high school to start working at theaters in Edmonton. I met my wife there and we moved to British Columbia’s Lower Mainland, where we lived for ten years. During these years I worked as a carpenter in both film and theatre, fulfilling my lifelong passion for being creative with wood. Although we greatly enjoyed our life in British Columbia, we pursued adoption and chose to move to rural Saskatchewan to raise our family. We adopted our two children here, which has been an unbelievable blessing and opportunity for learning. Our children are of First Nations descent, and we strive to not only teach them about their culture, but to embrace it. Work-life balance is of utmost importance to me, and I am grateful for the flexibility of being able to spend quality time with my children teaching them valuable life skills.
We have now been living in Saskatchewan on our acreage for 18 years. This has provided me with many opportunities for professional growth over the years, including learning about greenhouse and beekeeping operations. I have a woodworking shop that is like my second home. I make cabinetry and a variety of woodworking art projects including garden furniture and oversized Adirondack chairs for fun. Over the past year I have been expanding my skillset of working with wood to include creating a variety of bowls, cutting boards and charcuterie boards. My passion for creativity with wood has been rekindled, and I find it immensely enjoyable to challenge myself to create a different piece every time. I strive to utilize a variety of wood species in my pieces, the contrasting colors make every piece unique and breathtaking.
