Jaedean Mitchell
Jaedean lives and works from home studio in Weldon, SK. Mitchell’s artful journey began late in life, and a fire in her soul was lit. Her passion for learning all art forms started off with classes in drawing, stained glass, porcelain dolls, silversmithing and painting. The Ceramics Diploma from SIAST allowed Jaedean to explore clay in various ways. She was encouraged to try sculpting, mold making, slip casting and all the ways it can be fired. Mitchell graduated, inspired with a direction for her art practice. Exploration of different materials and methods of interpreting led Mitchell to combine steel, clay, bronze and glass in interesting ways. She is retired now and is excited to create full time. Jaedean loves to put humor in her pieces and make people smile – or wonder ‘what the heck was she thinking?’.
