When people think of the library they think of books, which is a big part of the library, but that’s not all we carry! To change things up a bit, instead of a book I’d like to bring your attention to a DVD series available in Fine Arts from PBS. Craft in America is a well produced series about various artisans and their work. A few examples that I really enjoy are “Music” (instrument making) and “Teachers” (teacher profiles from great artists). The “Music” film includes the history and how the instruments are made. The “Teachers” edition gives insight to the works and schools or training available. Frances Morrison Library has 14 DVDs in this series, each with a different topic. I find this series very inspiring and exciting and I hope you will, too.

If you are interested in this or similar books, movies, or music, please do not hesitate to contact the Saskatoon Public Library Fine Arts Department at 306.975.7579. We are happy to help you!
