Jasmin Fookes

she/her

Jasmin is an interdisciplinary artist living in Saskatoon. She holds a BFA and MFA from the University of Saskatchewan. Prior to 2019 she was primarily interested in printmaking however materials in the printmaking lab readied for removal became her central focus – the end of their intended purpose was the beginning of their life for her. This signaled the transition from being a printmaker working with a method that produced a “series” to an artist transforming countless materials. She also collects natural and mass-produced objects spotted in urban green spaces by virtue of chance encounters and turns them into something greater than the sum of their parts. Through her art practice, Jasmin wishes to cultivate a sense of wonder for the world we live in, its beauty, fragility, and complexity and the urgency of caring for it.
