Roadside Series: A Saskatchewan Printmaking Story
Jeni Ly & Jacob Semko
Exhibition Dates: August 30, 2025 - November 1, 2025
Reception: October 18, 2025 5:00 pm
This collection of woodcut prints by Saskatoon printmakers Jeni Ly and Jacob Semko celebrates the colourful gradations of the prairie sky and ground seen from a Saskatchewan perspective. Using modern technology and traditional printmaking methods, this work captures the feeling of familiarity, calmness, and of the heavenly ethereal shapes of the prairie sky we have all experienced while travelling on flat highways.
As part of this exhibition, the SCC hosted the artists for a drop-in printmaking activity at Nuit Blanche Saskatoon. Guests were led by Jacob and Jeni in creating their own Saskatchewan landscape print. By using a printmaking technique that is being pioneered by YXE Backyard Studios, participants used pre-cut blocks made on a CNC machine and a combination of relief printmaking techniques.
Join Roadside Series’ artists Jacob Semko and Jeni Ly for a presentation at SK Printmakers’ Flatgrafika III on collaborative, interdisciplinary contemporary printmaking. Drawing from their shared practice, they explore how small studios can sustain and expand printmaking through creativity, openness, and collaboration.
